The Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission (MVRPC) in Dayton, Ohio has one full-time (30-40 hours per week) Regional Planning/GIS internship position open during the Summer of 2025 (approximately from May 12, 2025 to August 15, 2025).
Internship Description:
The intern will assist the Community and Regional Planning department team with various tasks, including:
Planning and Policy Research
Special Planning Studies including PLAN4Health and Regional Housing Studies
Data Update, Map Production, and Map Application Development using Geographic Information System (GIS)
Data compilation and analysis using the U.S. Census data
Applicants should possess: knowledge of planning principles and practices; proficiency in using GIS (ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online); familiarity with research techniques; and skill in the use of various basic software (word processing, databases, spreadsheets, Adobe Creative suites, etc.).
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be currently enrolled in a degree (undergraduate or graduate) program in planning, geography, engineering, or related field.
Currently in the second year toward completing a Bachelor’s degree program.
Use of a personal vehicle and a valid driver’s license are required for field work during working hours.
Some practical professional experience preferred.
