The Northeast Ohio Four County Regional Planning and Development Organization (NEFCO), a regional council of governments, has an immediate opening for an Economic Development Planning Program Manager. This is a full-time, permanent position. It is not an entry level position. The selected candidate will report directly to the Executive Director and will be responsible for administrating the Partnership Planning grant awarded to NEFCO by the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA).

Buckeye Hills-Hocking Valley Regional Development District Receives National Association of Development Organizations Innovation Awards

Buckeye Hills received two 2016 Innovation Awards from the National Association of Development Organizations (NADO) for the Ohio River Medical Mission and the Appalachian Ohio P-20 Council efforts.

The June 2015 Ohio River Medical Mission hosted in Pomeroy was an innovative readiness training with the U.S. military.

Years in the planning, the mission provided medical, dental, vision and veterinary services to the community at no charge. The 10-day event served a total of 2,952 patients and animals with an estimated total cost savings to the community of nearly $740,000. The patients came from 61 towns across 20 counties in four states.

In addition, the Appalachian Ohio P-20 Council, another program that Buckeye Hills was pleased to partner in creating, won a NADO Innovation Award. The Council serves nine counties in two Educational Service Centers working to inspire a regional commitment to student success through community collaboration and partnerships. Funding provided by the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC), Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT), and the Ohio Development Services Agency through the Ohio Governor’s Office of Appalachia.

  • In 2016, Ohio’s LDDs administered 50 ARC projects with $61,653,671 in total project costs which
    resulted in 748.5 new jobs and 1,782.5 jobs retained in the region.
  • We accomplish this by fostering dynamic partnerships among local governments, building public-private alliances and making strategic investments.
  • Ohio Local Development Districts secured $45 in direct Appalachian project dollars for every $1 spent on administration.
